The main task of a perfusionist is to configure and operate the Heart-Lung machine.
Efficiently assist in ongoing bypass, assembling, managing and dismantling of CPB circuit
Perform Priming & de-airing of the circuit and setting up of heater cooler unit
Understand Patient Charting and confirmation of pre bypass check list, IABP arrangement and setup

B.SC. CARDIOVASCULAR PERFUSION TECHNOLOGY

Cardiovascular perfusion is the science of providing extracorporeal circulation in order to artificially support and temporarily replace a patient’s respiratory and circulatory systems.
Clinical Perfusionists are expert members of the cardiac surgical team, and provide life saving support of patients requiring extra corporeal circulation, including but not limited to major cardiothoracic, vascular and transplant surgeries, as well as support of the critically-ill patient.
Cardiovascular Perfusionists are important members of the open-heart surgical team whose primary role is to conduct cardiopulmonary bypass using a heart-lung machine and other ancillary equipment.
Perfusionists are also experts of other life support equipment such as ventricular assist devices and intra-aortic balloon pumps. The primary aim of B.ScCardiac Perfusion Technology is to academically and clinically prepare the cardiovascular perfusion student for professional practice.

As the name suggests, this M.Sc. program deals with perfusion technology and its allied areas. The academic program gives ample amount of importance to practical learning and training. Perfusion technologists should possess sound technical and practical knowledge (about CPT). This is the main reason why this program lays stress on practical training.

ELIGIBILITY : BSC IN PERFUSSION TECHNOLOGY

This course teaches all about perfusion technology which is to be performed as cardiovascular perfusion during cardiac surgery.
These candidates are required in many well equipped modern surgical set ups like Valvular and complex congenital operations, CABG, etc. Candidates get theoretical as well as practical knowledge about the course through hands on experience.
